Dviation and TAI Teams Up to Expand Thai Skilled Personnel Pool
20th September 2019, Bangkok, Thailand – The Dviation Group is delighted to announce the signing of a Collaboration Agreement with Thai Aerospace Industries (TAI) following their MoU signing in Malaysia last month. This Collaboration paves the way for the Dviation Group to bring its portfolio of technical training solutions into Thailand leveraging on TAI’s well-equipped facilities, infrastructure and networking. The initial program will be catered to TAI’s in-house trainees, following which, openings for external candidates will be available.
Combining the strengths and years of industry experience of both firms, this collaboration is set to become a centre for excellence where highly qualified aviation personnel will be produced to meet the needs of the rapidly growing aviation industry in Thailand and the greater ASEAN region.
Tourism Council of Thailand is forecasting a passenger market growth of 5.5% by end of 2019. With the increase in number of passengers, major Thai airlines are continuously expanding their networks and according to IATA, 203,000 direct aerospace jobs will be created by 2035. The Thailand Fleet Forecast shows a growth of 160% in its fleet size. Almost 500 additional aircraft will be delivered in the country in the next 20 years, majority of which are narrow bodies such as A320 and B737 series.
Airbus forecasts 640,000 new technicians will be needed to support the 39,000 new aircraft over the next 20 years and 41% of that total is in Asia Pacific region. That means, at least 13,000 new technicians annually are needed to be supplied into the industry in the region alone. However, Mr. Thanakrit, CEO of TAI, has pointed out that there are only 5,000 Thai technicians available.
The goal of this agreement is to support the development of the country’s aviation industry by helping to ensure that there is a steady supply of skilled personnel for Thailand’s airlines and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centres. Aside from Training, Dviation will also support TAI with the provision of recruitment, consultancy and FTM/CAMO services.
“It is indeed a pleasure to collaborate with Mr. Thanakrit and his team at TAI as we leverage on our joint resources to spearhead the development of aviation maintenance personnel in the Thailand region. His vision and enthusiasm are very much aligned with ours, and we see excellent synergies for further joint opportunities in the MRO sphere. We look forward to contributing significantly to the Thai as well as regional aviation industry with this excellent partnership in place,” noted Mr. Kevin Teoh, Dviation Group Managing Director.
On the same note, Mr. Thanakrit remarked that, “Both companies will train specialised MRO technicians for aircraft to serve the aviation sector in Thailand and the Asia-Pacific region, as we expect the sector to maintain high growth in the near future," he said. "New technicians from the centre will meet EASA standards and be able to work in this sector worldwide.”
