Dviation Welcomes Sapura Technics In New Training Collaboration
12th March 2020, Selangor, Malaysia – It is with great pleasure to announce that the Dviation Group and Sapura Technics Sdn Bhd (STSB) has inked an agreement for total technical training support. This collaboration will ensure STSB’s pool of highly skilled aircraft maintenance personnel are continuously and appropriately trained to the highest standards, as is required in the aviation industry. Via its subsidiary, Dviation Training Centre (DTC) will provide STSB with Part-147 type training programs, specialized Technical Training as well as Mandatory Regulatory Trainings.
These training courses will allow STSB’s staff to specialise in specific aircraft types including the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 series. In addition, DTC will be entrusted with the responsibility to support STSB’s new generation of talents to satisfy the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) standards.
Malaysia has witnessed a rise in demand for aircraft maintenance technical training, especially with the growth of aviation activity in the ASEAN region. However, the supply of such training has not necessarily kept up with the increasing demand. As Malaysia’s only independent Approved Training Organisation (ATO) that offers both EASA and CAAM approved Type Courses, DTC aims to close the gap between demand and supply.
Until recently, airlines took it upon themselves to train their own aircraft maintenance personnel to meet their operational needs. The internal provision of continuous and mandatory training involves the establishment of a Part-147 ATO, which has proven to be costly for operators. Furthermore, MROs and aspiring aircraft maintenance candidates (who are not employed by airlines) found a challenge in accessing such training readily and affordably.
Hence, this led Dviation to working towards bringing inaccessible courses to Malaysia so that aviation personnel throughout the region have the opportunity to upgrade their skills and knowledge. In turn, this can achieve the aim of contributing to the growth and development of the aviation industry as a whole.
Mr. Ibnu Hidayat Ishak, DTC Head of Training, states that: ‘This agreement with our new business partner, Sapura Technics, bodes well for development of their internal staff, and also for the next generation of aviation personnel in Malaysia. We are excited and looking forward to taking this collaboration to greater heights!’
